We believe there is a special need in today’s business world for clear values in an organization.
It has been commonly agreed that values should form the foundation for any company’s culture and guide employees in their on-the-job behavior. Most Leadership Training Programs emphasize the need for values as guidelines in the complex world of business today. Why?
For many companies it is about scale, leverage and success. To succeed, important decisions need to be made at an ever faster pace, in ever more complicated situations and with greater risk. Values that have been identified and accepted by the team as a whole can provide a framework for these decisions that employees can refer to and rely on.
That said, as a company leader, do you know if your employees know the company values and use them as guidelines? Continue to explore and refine these values with the organization as a whole. Continue to communicate them, abide by them and renew them as needed to fit changing times and changing realities.
Otherwise, they are just words on a website and fodder for another business cartoon.
