The Best Leaders Commit 100%

The right way is the one that you 100% commit to.”

This was spoken by a Zen Master to one of our Performance Leadership experts during an interview in Asia. He was trying to understand how the best leaders make the right decisions when confronted with difficult choices and an unprecedented amount of information.

When it comes to leadership decisions these days, information is overwhelming, time is of the essence, and certainty is a myth.

So how do you make the right decision?
  1. Bias Toward Action. First, get the best information and advice that you can without going overboard. You cannot afford to let the overabundance of information at your fingertips create analysis paralysis. Focus on moving to action to learn and adjust through the rapid prototyping and testing of promising concepts.

  2. 100% Commit. When you make a leadership decision, stand behind it. Unless you get new information or things change: Support it. Measure it. Improve it. Live it. Be it. If you do not rate the item a 9 or 10 in terms of importance to your success, commit to other areas.
