If
you have recently achieved prominence in your organization, you must not only
act but also look the part. You need to project a persona that exudes
confidence and competence. This is not to say that you puff yourself up to be
superhuman. It just means that you show that you are sure of yourself and that
you deserve your position of leadership.
Leadership training programs talk about establishing your image in a way that shows your
strength. Here are 3 tips:
1.
Stand tall. The word “slouch”
does not just refer to a drooping posture. It has come to mean a lazy or
incompetent person. Don’t give anyone the chance to consider you in either
category.
2.
Remain calm. If you are nervous
or move anxiously about, you can appear to be out of control.
3.
Believe in yourself. Talk yourself
through any moments of anxiety…behind the scenes. Remember that you have earned
this position because you are fully capable. Project confidence and others will
be confident in you.
